If ever there was a sure fire way to get me interested in a particular fruit, it is to margarita-fy it. Let’s be real – I’m still 95% in the not loving beets camp, but last week my girlfriends sent me pics of beet ‘ritas at a local restaurant and I’m like, “Let’s do this!” As I have alluded to previously, I’ve been very slow to come around to grapefruit in general, but it was pink grapefruit margaritas that made me see the light. I first had one at a restaurant here in Indy at the recommendation of the bartender. I dutifully tried all the flavors just to be sure (such taxing research), but he was right. The pink grapefruit margarita really is their best one.
So good, in fact, that I found myself craving them often. It was only natural to try recreating them at home. This research was slightly less fun with a lot more sour faces and watering eyes on my way to finding the right balance of flavors and the right texture. I did it though. You’re welcome. Make yourself a batch of the pink grapefruit sorbet, invite friends over, grab that cocktail shaker, and have fun!
As an aside, I want to apologize for my infrequent posting of late. I have SO much to share with you all and I miss writing more often. There are so many recipes and other fun things I am dying to write about. However, I am grappling with how to make space for it. It takes a lot of cognitive dissonance to process all that is happening in our world and then write about something as seemingly inane as food, fashion, etc. This is new territory and I’m doing my best to figure it out with some dignity. Thanks for your patience, friends.
