My hope is to inspire you to be fearless in the kitchen, to try new things, to take the time to make things the homemade way and most importantly, to have fun doing it!

Reader Love

Welcome to a new feature here on Annie’s Eats – Reader Love.  When I first started this blog almost seven years ago (!), I never thought anyone would read it.  It was simply a place for me to chronicle the recipes I was trying as I grew my skills in the kitchen. Somehow, somewhere along the way a few people started reading.  And then a lot of people started reading.  And as so many wonderful readers have stopped by, stayed awhile, left me comments, sent me emails, the focus of everything began to change.

At the heart of it, a lot of this blog is still a record of the fun I have in the kitchen and the new things I am trying, but now, thanks to your presence in this space, it has also become a place where I aim to inspire you and make your time in the kitchen and around the table more enjoyable.  All of your comments, emails, etc. – they mean more than you know.  I can’t tell you how much I love the heartfelt emails I receive and the frequent comments from readers who now feel like old friends.  So, I thought it was time to give you some props.  In this feature, I’ll highlight some Instagram photos of readers who have made my recipes, comments that meant a lot, and any other fun reader moments.

lemerk16 made yeast bread for the first time.  Get it girl!  By reading comments day after day, I know yeast bread is one of the things that most intimidates people, so way to go for conquering it!

marinasalama_ made the ever popular chocolate peanut butter layer cake and it looked adorable with festive candles on top.

janayajansen tackled an awesome kitchen first by making ravioli from scratch for the first time.  Way to go!  Pasta from scratch is so worth the effort.

megankate111 made raspberry lemon cupcakes and they looked gorgeous!

annemariewoodgate made beautiful salted caramel macarons.  She is also a pastry student and has lots more amazing creations in her IG feed.

My sweet friend Kelsey (appleadayblog) made the Sesame Street cupcakes for her precious niece’s first birthday.  Love them!

Amy of One Preppy Cookie (onepreppycookie) had a long week but ended it right with a family pizza party using my favorite pizza dough ever (and one of the pizzas was fancied margherita, the best eva).  Sounds like a perfect way to start the weekend!

This comment from reader Therese is one of the best comments I have received in a while.  I love love love when a reader tells me they finally had success with a food that had previously eluded them.  She conquered pie crust – bravo, Therese!

One last highlight is extra special to me.  This is Lizzi.  She emailed me a few years ago and explained that she was a blog reader, lives nearby, and was in need of desserts for her wedding.  Now, I don’t normally do many orders, but she was so sweet and I really wanted to help her out.  So I baked a wide variety of cupcakes and a few other things for her dessert buffet at the reception (including the Apple themed groom’s cake in this post.)  Eventually we became closer through email and social media, and I was thrilled when she emailed me last fall and told me she was pregnant!  Earlier this month I had the privilege of attending a baby shower for her and her husband.  I love baby showers and seeing so many friends and family gather around to support expectant parents as they embark on the incredible journey of parenthood, and it was really special to take part in their celebration.  Caroline and I also had lunch with Lizzi and the bump last week, and that was wonderful too.  Can’t wait to meet her little man soon!

So thanks again, to all you readers who make this fun blogging journey more fun than I ever thought possible!

What a fun new feature! I, too, will second the thoughts and opinions of so many other readers when I say that you have inspired me sooo much when it comes to cooking and baking! Whenever I need to find a recipe, whether it’s for a family meal, a get-together with friends, or something special, the first place I ALWAYS check is your blog! Well, it seems a good time to tell you that now I’ve been following you for almost a year and haven’t been disappointed with a recipe I’ve tried yet. Thanks for such reliable, yummy stuff! My husband jokes now if we ever have a question in the kitchen to “go ask annie” :) Seriously though, you’ve helped us over and over. Awesome blog. Thanks :)

  • Angela

Wow, this is really a nice new feature! It is cool to see what others have done with your recipes. I always pass your blog on to others. You really have the most reliable recipes out there. If it is on Annie’s blog, I know it is going to taste great!

  • Cheryl Duss

What a nice thing to do for your readers (aka foodie fans)! Do you know how many people are now reading your blog?

I am reading this from Ontario, Canada and love how you share your stories with your recipes. I have been following you for a couple of years now and finally got the inspiration I needed to make royal icing with the help of your tutorial. I was always intimidated to make sugar cookies because of the icing, but made a few batches before X-mas and they turned out fabulous. I wish that I had taken pictures to send to you. Your tutorial was so easy to follow. Thanks Annie!

  • annieseats

Wonderful! Next time, do send me some pics and then maybe I can share them in a future Reader Love :)

  • annieseats

I love that! Makes my day :)

  • http://sweet-turtle-soup.blogspot.com/ Courtney Sweet

Well this is just downright sweet =)

  • Kelsey

Annie, what a sweetheart you are! You didn’t need to feature the Sesame Street cupcakes (or link to my blog). Thank you so much. Here’s to seven more years of days that taste better!

  • Diana

Love this! You are such an inspiration in the kitchen! I made so many more things from scratch than I did a year ago, mostly thanks to you!

  • Sara Hynds-Scates

Your blog inspired mine. Actually this is the first food blog I ever read and I enjoyed it so much I thought, hey I can do that! I have shared a few of your recipes with my readers and I always tell everyone how much I love your posts and give links so they can check you out too. Thanks for being my inspiration.

  • ms_jlynn

Aw this is such a nice thing to do! Your warmth is part of what makes this blog so great.

  • Alison Behan

I’m reading this from Dublin, Ireland. I adore your blog. Everytime I have something different or challenging or impressive to make I come here. You have never failed to help me. I feel with you I can tackle anything with confidence. Thank YOU for all the time and effort you put in. Not easy with littlies by your side!!

  • Melissa Brooker

Annie, you never cease to amaze me! It’s so great how you truly care about those of us who read daily! Honestly, ever since I stumbled upon your blog a couple of years ago while searching for a turkey meatloaf recipe, my life has changed. My husband and I eat better, more homemade foods. No more hamburger helper etc. without you I’m not sure I would have ever tried so many new food and learned so many new techniques. You have been my coach, you taught me about new ingredients, new (to me) recipes, and have always been encouraging. I love when I get a response to a comment on Facebook, I always tell me husband, ooh look Annie replied!

So, thank you, if I lived anywhere near you I would owe you dinner! If you ever come to Toronto, you can take me up on that!

    Melissa.

  • Jessica L.

This is so lovely! I sell baked goods on the side (very small-time, but I really love it!), and a TON of my cupcake recipes come from you. Everything you post is always a winner in my kitchen.

I’m actually making one of your recipes for dinner tonight–chicken gyros. They’re always a favorite with my boyfriend. Thank you Annie, for everything you do here. You’re an inspiration!

  • April Spicer

Love all of this! Great idea and I’m so glad you and your blog is loved by so many! (I live just down south from you in b-town, so I feel close to you in that respect! :)

  • Annie Lindsay

This was so lovely! What a fun concept :)

  • caroline olsson

Aww, this is just sooo sweet Annie! I can`t wait to see/read more!

  • http://typingsunflowers.blogspot.com/ Brenda Steffen

I love this! Your blog really is my go-to site for recipe inspiration. This weekend I made your cinnamon-sugar pull apart bread and I thought to myself ‘what would I do without Annie’s Eats?!’ {giggle…} Besides the food, it’s been a joy to read your stories and to see your growing family on a regular basis.

  • Silvana Alckmin Carvalho Padre

Hi Annie! Did you know that you have a reader from a small town in Brazil?
    Yep! It’s me.
I really love your recipes and that helps me so much with my vocabulary.
I don’t write so well in English, but I wanted tell you who I am and thank you.

    A huge hug!

  • Melissa Brooker

Thanks to stumbling upon your blog a few years ago, my life has changed. You have been my coach, you’ve taught me to be adventurous, to try new techniques and new ingredients. My husband and I eat so much healthier thanks to you! I can’t thank you enough Annie. Whenever I post a comment on Facebook and you reply I get so excited, I tell my husband, Annie replied! He just laughs, but he’s glad I found you too!

  • annieseats

Aw, thanks Melissa! I love seeing your name come up in comments and on Facebook. I’m so glad that the blog has changed the way you cook. I love to hear that! Thanks for staying around :)

  • annieseats

    Thank you Alison!

  • April Spicer

Ha! How cool! My husband and I moved here 5.5 yrs ago and are from Cali. I want to plan a night out in Indy so I’ll have to hit you up for your best suggestions.

  • Tracee Marshall

So awesome! Just wanted to let you know that “benchiladas” is a regularly used word around here. I even have people at work as if I’m going to bring those benchiladas to the potlucks we have!!! Thanks for doing what you do Annie, my dinners would be so boring without you

  • annieseats

I was just talking to a blog reader this weekend about how much I love it that “Benchiladas” has become a term used by plenty of people I have never actually met. So awesome :)

  • Miranda Johnson

I second that! We love Benchiladas, too! :)

  • Miranda Johnson

This is an awesome feature. I agree with the many other commenters who mentioned how you’re their go-to. I know if you post something it’s quality–so your recipes go to the top of my “try it” list. And if I want to bake something, you’re the first place I consult. Though it’s hard to pick, your Caramel Apple Cheesecake Pie is my favorite. Thanks for all of the work you put into this beautiful home on the internet. :)

  • annieseats

    Thank you Miranda :)
